What is the public’s role in Urban Renewal decisions?

In Wilsonville, the use of urban renewal is guided by the Urban Renewal Task Force, which is comprised of residents, taxing districts (such as the fire district), business owners, property owners, and real estate professionals. Additionally, past Wilsonville City Councils would seek an advisory vote from the community to gauge whether residents supported establishing a new urban renewal area.

The passage of Measure 3-632 in May 2026 amended the Wilsonville Charter to require a binding vote of the people before an urban renewal district can be established, and for certain amendments to existing urban renewal districts.
